Arc flash
An arc flash is a voltage breakdown of the resistance of air resulting in an arc which can occur where there is sufficient voltage in an electrical system and a path to ground or lower voltage.

Arc protection
In regards to clothing, a user can obtain arc protection from any garment that is arc-rated. All arc-rated garments are required to include the arc rating in cal/cm² on the tag. It is important to determine the level of arc protection necessary for the task at hand to insure that proper personal protective equipment is worn.



Arc rating
Arc ratings are values that indicate the arc performance of a material or system of materials and are expressed in calories per centimeter squared.
